Description

This is a study of European society, politics, and culture from the Age of Napoleon through the First World War. Students will examine ideologies such as conservatism, nationalism, liberalism, capitalism, imperialism, and socialism. They will also study political revolutions and reforms, the effects of industrialization and urbanization, changing class, family, and gender relations, and the importance of religion in an age of modernity. Three hours.
