Description

This is a study of European society, politics, and culture from the Russian Revolution to the 21st century. Topics to investigate will include the World Wars and the Holocaust, the fall of empire, the Cold War, the collapse of the Soviet Union, European unification, ethnic and religious conflicts, and Europe in a new age of globalism. Students will also study various social issues including the women?s movement, labor organizations, the era of student protest, and changes in family structures. Ideologies and their effects such as communism, socialism, and democracy will be investigated. Prerequisites: one semester of any 100 or 200 level survey history course, at least sophomore standing, or approval of instructor. Three hours.
