Description

This course examines the causes of physical deterioration of historical artifacts and the relevant methods and theories of preserving archival materials for future generations. It examines the process of organizing archival collections; the proper care, preservation and repair of books, documents, textiles, film and photography; disaster preparedness and facilities maintenance. This course complements the training students receive in HIS 400 and is designed for those interested in public history and/or a career in an archival facility. Prerequisite: at lea st sophmore standing. Three hours.
