Description
This course will explore the African-American experience in sport from a multidisciplinary approach including the sociological, biological, political, and historical perspectives. Special emphasis is placed on the life experiences of certain African-American athletes and the socio-cultural climate in which they lived. The student will explore the rich history of African-American Athletes and their struggle to play the sports they so dearly loved. This class fulfills the Cross Cultural Experience requirements by including a trip that will enhance the student's exploration of African-American culture. The students will spend seven days in Atlanta, Georgia immersed in the history and culture of African-Americans. Three hours.
